Reggio Emillia and the Approach Essay -- Education, Te Whariki

Origin from a city in the north of Italy, the Reggio Emilia approach in Early Childhood Education is adopted by multi-countries over the past decades. This approach has a core philosophy, that children should play a leading role in education. Children are seen as full of knowledge and intelligence, with full capabilities to express themselves if only given the proper ways to do to so. They are protagonists of their own learning and have a say in what topics and problems they will study and research. Teachers provide resources to assistant children’s learning and developing. The curriculum is emergent, meaning the teachers choose topics and projects based on careful listening and observations of their student’s interests, needs and inquiries. Children are encouraged to use materials and media to demonstrate their learning and understanding of a topic or project. Documentations and environment have direct influences in helping children’s learning. Parents and comm unity also play a supportive role in children education (O.E.C.D, 2004). Te Whá ¾ ±riki is the New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum, which was developed in 1996. Compared with Reggio Emilia Approach, they have similarities as focus on children’s interests; develop children’s learning though interacting in relationship with others, emphasise the importance of environment and adults’ active responding. They also differ in many ways, such as teacher’s role, culture background and documentation and Assessment. Community and parent support is considered a valuable and vital part of the Reggio Emilia system. The exchange of ideas between parents and teachers is essential and favours the development of a new way of educating. The approach encourages interaction and communic... ...both approach emphasis on Family and Community. The wider world of family and community is an integral part of the early childhood curriculum Te Whá ¾ ±riki (1996). It also states that inclusion and support of parents and the connections with the community is important to the children’s learning process. Moreover Te Whá ¾ ±riki states that â€Å"Parents and caregivers have a wealth of valuable information and understandings regarding their children† (30). Thirdly both approach focus on educators to provide encouragement, warmth, and acceptance. They also provide challenges for creative and complex learning and thinking, helping children to extend their ideas and actions through sensitive, informed, well-judged interventions and support. Te Whá ¾ ±riki principles points out â€Å"children learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships with people, places and things† (p. 14).

“Comparing Male and Female Sports ” Eassy

ITCW 11/20/12 Essay from page381 #5 Essay on Male and Female sports teams I personally agree with what the author wrote about in his writing. If you take a look at how both men and women play sports, you will clearly see that not only are men more aggressive with the sports they play; but they also treat each other more aggressively than girls do. If a guy was to be playing football and dropped a pass chances are he will get a lot of grief from his teammates and they might harass him about it for weeks.While if a girl made a mistake playing her sport chances are the girls will try to help her get better. Instead of showing her tough love like their male counter parts would. For the guys I think they act how they act and show tough love and aggression to each other because they normally have to fight and act tough with each other to stand out. Look how guys socialize they normally are insulting and calling each other names.Playing of course but none the less they do it, I believe some forum of that has just carried on to the sports they play. Also guys tend to break into groups more so than their female counter part. Guys who are good at a sport will usually hang out and socialize with other athletes who stand out, leaving the ones who are not as good behind. For girls like I said in my previous paragraph, they normally can keep their cool and know how to talk to each other better during the heat of the moment unlike the guys.This is typically due to the fact that like I previously said the girls tend to help each other more then the guys do. While the guys are cirdasizing each other; the girls who are the stand out stars are helping the girls who are not as good as them. Which in the long run might make it so the girls get a better understanding of the meaning â€Å"Team Sports†? There are also other reasons one must remember when comparing male and female sports teams.For instance Guys normally have to act a certain way and out do his male counter parts when he is in the work field to stand out or even receive a promotion, While normally girls won’t have to act as cut throat as guys in the work field. Which could explain why girl sports teams show more â€Å"team sportsmanship†? All in all both male and female act a certain way when they play sports Now when it comes to how they act, that all just depends on how mature they are and how they are as a person.Me personally I think more so for guys, when they are in the middle of a football game or basketball and a teammate makes a critical mistake. They might over react or say something that might sound a bit harsh but one must remember they are â€Å"In the heat of battle†. So typically what is being said isn’t always how they truly feel about each other. I also believe that girls have more pations then guys do and are more willing to help someone who isn’t as good as them. So that is why girl teams help each other more and show more team sportsman ship.

Can It Be Too Cold to Snow

Snow falls when the temperature drops below the freezing point of water, but when its really cold you may hear people say, Its too cold to snow! Can this be true? The answer is a qualified yes because snowfall becomes unlikely once the temperature of the air at ground level drops below -10 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius). However, its not technically the temperature that keeps snow from falling, but a complex relationship between temperature, humidity, and cloud formation. If youre a stickler for details, youd say no because its not just the temperature that determines whether it will snow. Heres how it works... Why It Doesnt Snow When Its Really Cold Snow forms from water, so you need water vapor in the air to form snow. The amount of water vapor in air depends on its temperature. Hot air can hold a lot of water, which is why it can get extremely humid during summer months. Cold air, on the other hand, holds much less water vapor. However, in the mid-latitudes, its still possible to see significant snowfall because advection can bring in water vapor from other areas and because the temperature at higher altitudes can be warmer than at the surface. Warmer air forms clouds in a process called expansion cooling. The warm air rises and expands because there is lower pressure at higher altitudes. As it expands, it grows cooler (check the ideal gas law if you need a refresher on why), making the air less able to hold water vapor. Water vapor condenses out of the cold air to form a cloud. Whether the cloud can produce snow depends partially on how cold the air was when it formed. Clouds that form at cold temperatures contain fewer ice crystals because the air had less water to give. Ice crystals are needed to serve as nucleation sites to build the larger crystals we call snowflakes. If there are too few ice crystals, they cant stick together to form snow. However, they can still produce ice needles or ice fog. At truly low temperatures, like -40 degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius (the point at which the temperature scales are the same), there is so little moisture in the air it becomes extremely unlikely any snow will form. The air is so cold its not likely it will rise. If it did, it wouldnt contain enough water to form clouds. You could say its too cold to snow. Meteorologists would say the atmosphere is too stable for snow to occur.
